On old maps, when the cartographers didn’t know what was in a certain area, they would draw sea monsters and dragons.
“Here be monsters” is a designation for unexplored territories, for bumping up against the end of what we know.
As we create and perform new work, the members of HERE BE MONSTERS have some sense of the terrain, but no true knowledge of what lies ahead. Characters change. Stories change. Ideas develop. We approach our projects with a sense of adventure and the confidence of working with a close and capable crew.
We started in August of 2016 with SHELTER IN PLACE and have had a summer production every year since then.
